Embracing AI: The Future is Here

Matt

We are living in a new era—the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It’s transforming everything, from how we communicate to how we create and work.

AI has unlocked exciting possibilities: instant language translation, high-quality image and video generation, and even sophisticated code writing. It’s also making strides in fields like medical diagnosis and expert assistance, revolutionising industries at an incredible pace.

Not long ago, AI-generated content was often laughable—think of images with people having three hands or AI-written text that was clearly robotic. A good example was the Will Smith eating spaghetti video from 2023 (subreddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/1244h2c/will_smith_eating_spaghetti/), it was clearly wrong but if you look at recent versions people have made, you actually can't tell if its real or not.

While we’re still ironing out the flaws, the rapid advancements mean that within a year, many of these issues will be nearly nonexistent.

The Resistance to Change

With such significant changes, resistance is natural, especially when jobs and livelihoods are at stake. This isn’t new—it happens whenever a major innovation disrupts established ways of working.

Take the Luddites, for example. They were 19th-century textile workers who protested against machines that threatened their jobs by making production cheaper and faster. While history often portrays them as anti-technology, they were really just skilled workers trying to protect their craft and way of life.

Today, we see similar concerns in fields like software development. AI tools are emerging that can write clean, testable code. While current limitations exist—such as gaps in security or test coverage—these shortcomings are disappearing fast. The question isn’t whether AI will be good enough. It’s when.

Adapting to AI

So, what do we do? Do we resist AI, or do we embrace it?

The reality is that AI is here to stay. Rather than opposing it, the real challenge is defining how we use it responsibly.

In a previous blog post, we discussed the importance of setting guiding principles for a business or venture. These principles help us make decisions in a fast-changing world. Now, it’s time to update them to account for AI.

For example, if you value hiring people over automating work with AI—similar to supporting local businesses—you can make that a guiding principle. AI should serve as a tool, not a replacement for human creativity and craftsmanship.

How We Use AI

We see AI as an incredible tool and encourage others to approach it the same way. However, we also believe in setting clear boundaries.

At our core, storytelling defines who we are. Stories are about the human experience, and we believe they should be created by humans. AI may assist in the process, but at best, it can only mimic true creativity. The same applies to art and music—there will likely be movements promoting “Buy Human” as a response to AI-generated content, much like “Made in Britain” labels for products.

That said, we will use AI to enhance storytelling, not replace it. In our upcoming adventure game, players will be able to input text or voice commands freely rather than selecting from predefined options. AI-powered Natural Language Processing (NLP) will interpret their intent (in any language) and match it to the game’s mechanics, creating a more immersive experience.

The story and narrative, however, will remain 100% human-written. AI will serve to enhance interactivity, not replace storytelling.

We’ll be sharing a future post on how to implement this in iOS, so stay tuned!

Conclusion

AI is here to stay. We can’t ignore it, but we can guide its use in an ethical and meaningful way. By embracing AI responsibly, we can lead the way in shaping its role in our creative and professional spaces.
